Halloween

We have decided that we are going to Kansas for Halloween. We have new renters moving in November 1st, and I really wanted to meet them and make sure everything went smoothly. It just so happened it is the same weekend as Halloween. We will all miss Mark, but the kids are going to have a blast! (he was going to work all day anyways.) I guess I better start shopping the highs are in the 50s.

Red River Shootout

This last week we made the LONG drive to Dallas on Friday. Mark didn't get off until 9PM, and by the time we finally got on the road we didn't get into Dallas until 3AM. We slept for 4 hours and then headed to the Texas OU game and Texas State Fair. It took us 2 1/2 hours to get into the stadium!! The Texas State Fair was inside the parking lot of the Cotton Bowl. To get to the game we had to enter the Fair, and then the stadium. It was like nothing I had ever seem before. The Cotton Bowl holds 90,000 people and the Fair had another few hundred thousand people. AND everyone was in Texas or OU gear. Mark got really good seats and the kids LOVED the game. CC was so into the game. She watched every snap, and was yelling at the Red Team. (OU) She quickly picked up the Texas cheers and was cheering right along side everyone else. The kids lasted half the game and then we headed to the fair. This was right after Carter and I ran into Leanne Rhymes and "Officer Jesse Cardoza!" The kids and I stayed outside the fair while Mark went back to the game. Carter LOVED the dog show, and CC participated in her very first Texas Rodeo!! There was a whole farming section that was sponsored by Oprah. The kids got to plant seeds, sell their vegees, milk a cow, sell the milk and buy something with all their cash. It was a really fun set up that the kids really enjoyed. We were really hoping to last until Miranda Lambert came on but with two kids, no naps, and going on 10 hours of fun, there was NO WAY. We settled for some fried catfish, fried shrimp, pizza, lemonade, cotton candy and a funnel cake!! We went home and left the next day. We stopped at UT Austin on the way home and saw the Longhorn Stadium. It was a LONG drive, but the kids really had fun. Now we know driving to Austin will be cake!

Pumpkin Patch

We pass this pumpkin patch on the way to CC's school every morning. She kept saying, "On Daddy's next day off can we go there and look at the pumpkins?" So on Mark's only day off this week we headed to the pumpkin patch. It is a very small, but cute, pumpkin patch. We are planning on going to a real pumpkin patch, so we just picked up two small pumpkins for the kids to paint.

CC's first soccer game

The White Diamonds first game was a victory. They won 6-1, or 5-0. Not sure if they count the two goals scored in their own goals, actually not sure if they kept score at all.... But, it was definitely an experience. CC said she had fun, when in actuality she spent the whole game pouting because she couldn't score a goal. Coach Mario was really trying to help her out. He let her throw the ball in, and kickoff (twice). We are hoping next week has a few more smiles. We can't wait for Auntie Kim to get here so she can give CC some pointers on aggressive soccer playing!!

Puddle Jumping

So... when we moved to San Antonio we heard nothing but the stage 2 drought, and what we can and cannot do. Funny how a city that has water restrictions on what day and time you can water your yard, has so much rain? It has been raining on and off the last few weeks and CC had been dying to puddle jump. AND of course she had to do it with her Daddy... he's way more fun than me. It was by far the dirtiest, nastiest thing I have ever let my kids do, but they had SOOO much fun! It was well worth the 97 cent can of commet I had to use to clean the tub:)

Mark's birthday

Yes! I am this behind on my blogs. Picture from Mark's birthday two weeks ago!! Don't those dimples almost make you forget his little fingers are in the frosting??

CC's big life plans

CC cracks me up. She woke up today and has the next 25 years of her life planned.
Age 5: we are going to Disney World for her birthday, and she doesn't mind if she doesn't get any presents.
Age 10: she is flying to China with Lala and having a sleep over on the airplane.
Age 20: she going to college to meet her prince.
Age 29: she is getting married and having a baby. She will be a little sad because she wont live with us anymore, but she promises to call on the phone everday.

We are so proud of CC. She had her first phonics test on Monday, and she did amazing! She got 100% The first test was for vowels. She is now able to recognize on paper, make the sounds, and give an example of all the vowels. Ex. "A says ahhh as in applesauce or apple." CC has started to explore blends, putting together two letters a constant and a vowel. And it is surprising how fast she is picking them us. She already has B and T mastered. She has also started sounding out letters to make words.

Other exciting accomplishments at school:
Can count from 1 to 100
Can write her full name CAMDEN
has recited all three of her bible verses
AND has only had one yellow the entire month of September
