Newport Beach and 38th street park

Monday we went to the 38th street park at Newport Beach. Unfortunately the weather wasn't that great. Cold and cloud. So the kids didn't get to play in the water but they still had fun.

Angels v. Yankees

Mark and I had been planning on going to an Angel's game with a few friends. It turned out to be the perfect day for a game, 80s and sunny!! I think I got my Mother's Day gift early, because Mark was not wearing his Dodger's jersey. If you know Mark, you know he's a huge Dodger fan and this was a huge! It was a great game and a beautiful day with friends.

Carson's Baptism

Mark and I were truly blessed when Melissa and Wes asked us to be Carson's Godparents. We flew to California to celebrate Carson's Christening, and his first birthday. The ceremony was beautiful, and we were so thankful that we were a part of this day.

We were so lucky that one of Uncle Brad's high school baseball games were during our trip to CA. The kids had a great time running around playing with their cousins.

Tri-City Park

Friday Morning

The first thing we did when we got to CA was go to tri-city park. We met up with Mary and her boys, Nicholas and Carson. I've known Mary since we were in kindergarten, and I love that our kids are so close in age. Every time we go to CA, we try to meet up with them. Carter and Nicholas are three weeks apart, and I love to watch them grow. They were dying to play catch with each other, but once we got there, they were more into the slides:)

Flight to CA

We were so lucky that Mark got some time off from work to take a trip to CA. Our nephew Carson was getting christened and celebrating his first birthday. I was a little nervous about the flight. Carter has had ear problems for the last few weeks, and we were taking a red eye. Departure time was 7:55PM when their bedtime is routinely 7PM. But, the kids did great on the flight! Honestly, after an hour layover (8:55PM departure time), and getting to the airport two hours early I didn't know what to expect. The waiting and containing was the hardest part. Luckily we had enough activities (and ice cream), to tie them over.

The waiting was the hardest part. As soon as we were on the flight both kids fell asleep, and it was smooth and quiet flying!!

I heart camera phones

I LOVE camera phones. I seriously don't know what people did before they had them. I got my first one right before CC was born, in 2005. They are perfect for times like these....

CC wore eye black for the first time, and immediately ask for a mirror. So we took a picture to show her.

Eye Doctor update

We went back to Dr. Cohen, again, to check Carter's eyes. I haven't noticed him tilting his head, but he has recently started closing his right eye. Just like CC did. About 50% of pictures of Carter he has his right eye closed. Like this....

We have been going to Dr. Cohen every other month since September, and no visible signs of strabismus. But, I'm just not buying it. The same eye, the same symptoms, same gene pool. Dr. Cohen did notice an astigmatism in both eyes, but because it was equal he doesn't see any need for glasses... YET. We didn't notice CC's astigmatism until she was 4, and it was only in one eye. So we have to go back another two months and see if anything has changed. I'm hoping because I am so attentive to any changes, that we can cure it with glasses alone, just like CC. Dr. Cohen did mention that if signs of strabismus do present itself soon, that surgery may be needed. But I've heard all this before. Until then, we just hope he doesn't break our glasses.

One proud mama bear

I am so proud of both of my kids this week. CC has had an amazing month at school. She got greens everyday on her behavior chart. This is AMAZING. Our social butterfly finds it nearly impossible to keep quiet during rest time. She gets a yellow at least once a week for talking while everyone is suppose to be sleeping. CC stopped napping before she was three. She hasn't taken a nap in almost 2 years, so I'm not surprised she doesn't want to sleep in a chair, with her head on the desk. But, this month she did it. She was quiet and didn't disturb anyone. I am so proud of her.

Carter is also a champ at potty training. He isn't even close to being fully potty trained, but as long as he wears big boy underwear he won't go twinkle twinkle in them. He has kept his Elmo underwear dry all week. He wears them around the house, but wears a diaper when he's sleeping or leaving the house. Let's hope he picks this up fast and we can say goodbye to diapers!!

P.S.Does anyone else have the problem of not calling them big boy panties? Or is it just me?

Sick again.

Carter is sick again! He finally got what I had a several weeks ago and what CC had two weeks ago. Bad cough, and a dual ear infection. Poor baby. Went to Doctor Austin today and he should be good in a few days.

Carter weighs 27 pounds 10 ounces in a diaper. I can't believe it. He has become the pickiest eater, and choses to fill up on milk instead of food. But he is apparently still gaining weight.

On a side note, CC learned today that using a sticker that your doctor gives you as an eye patch is not a good idea. This picture was taken three hours after the doctor. Can you see the red mark around her right eye?

I am so ready for summer.
